Checklist for attending Court

  1. Contact a Lawyer
  2. Wear smart clothes i.e. suit pants and a button up shirt; Looks are important! This shows the Magistrate that you are taking the matter seriously.
  3. Shave and do your hair nicely
  4. Do not wear white shoes!
  5. Make sure you tell your boss/employer that you need the day off
  6. Make sure you know which Court you have to go to and how long it will take you to get there. Don’t be late!
  7. Make sure you have appropriate transport
  8. Make sure you have heard back from the lawyer
  9. Gather any documents that the lawyer has asked you to get
  10. Organise for a support person to come with you
